December 11, 2017 | Women's Basketball
STARKVILLE, Miss. – A Top 10 showdown is set for Wednesday night at Humphrey Coliseum as Mississippi State women's basketball moved up to No. 5 in this week's Associated Press Top 25 Poll in advance of its contest against No. 9 Oregon.
After knocking off Oklahoma State in the Big 12/SEC Challenge on Dec. 3, the Bulldogs improved to 9-0 for the second-straight year and third time in the last four seasons with an impressive 86-48 win against Little Rock on Sunday.
State claimed its 61st-straight week in the poll, the seventh-longest active streak in the country. The Bulldogs' 25-consecutive weeks in the Top 10 rates fifth nationally.
Oregon will be the fourth team Vic Schaefer's squad has faced this season that is either ranked or receiving votes. Oklahoma State, who upset No. 7 UCLA on Friday, is receiving votes in this week's poll. Arizona State was ranked No. 24 when the teams met in Cancun, Mexico, while Green Bay is up to No. 21.
The Bulldogs and Ducks meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday. The contest will be broadcast on the SEC Network in addition to the MSU Radio Network.
Wednesday's game will be Christmas at the Hump. The first 500 fans get a free Christmas Tree Cake and Santa will be in attendance for pregame pictures and to read "The Night Before Christmas" to children on the court at halftime.
Tickets for the game cost $5 for adults and $3 for youth age 17 and under. Bully's Kids Club members get free admission to all women's basketball games with their membership ID card.
Fans unable to come to the contest can transfer their tickets to friends or family. More information on transferring tickets and the Bulldog Scan Rewards program can be found at www.hailstate.com/transfers.
