State Men’s Tennis Set For Pensacola Futures; Borges No. 3 Seed

STARKVILLE, Miss. – With the 2018 spring campaign fast approaching, one final tournament remains on the fall slate for the Mississippi State men's tennis team, as the Bulldogs will travel to Pensacola, Fla., for the Pensacola Futures Championship, a USTA Futures event.

Qualifying play opens Friday at the Roger Scott Tennis Center, with the main draw commencing Tuesday.

State's Nuno Borges - fresh off a dominant six-match run to win the inaugural Oracle ITA National Fall Championships - enters as the tournament's third-seeded player with an ATP ranking of 566. He will begin play Tuesday in the main draw.

MSU's Giovanni Oradini and Florian Broska will open up in the 128-player qualifying draw that begins Friday.

Oradini is coming off an impressive run to the singles consolation title match at the National Fall Championships that included victories against three ranked foes. The sophomore lefty leads the Bulldogs with 10 ranked wins thus far this fall.

Next Up For MSU…

After returning home from Pensacola, State will eagerly await its spring 2018 dual match slate that opens with three consecutive home matches, beginning Jan. 14 with UAB before South Florida (Jan. 19) and Miami (Jan. 21) visit Starkville.
