
No. 4 MSU Hosts In-State Foe Southern Miss On Ro Johnson Day

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Mississippi State women's basketball will wrap a three-game homestand on Sunday as the fourth-ranked Bulldogs host Southern Miss. The tip between undefeated squads is slated for 2 p.m.
State improved to 2-0 with a 106-50 win against Georgia State on Thursday, while USM upped its record to 3-0 with an 84-69 win against Mississippi Valley State.
Ro Johnson is up first as MSU sets aside certain dates to honor its four seniors. The quartet will be honored together during the final home game of the season. As a part of Johnson's day, the first 750 fans will receive a collectable poster.
Johnson tallied six points in Thursday's win against to follow-up an 18-point showing against Virginia in the season opener.
The senior guard has knocked down an SEC fourth-best 53.8 percent from 3-point range this season and has moved atop MSU's career list in the category with a 45.0 tally.
She is second on the team in scoring, averaging 13.5 points per game. Victoria Vivians leads with 20.5 points per game, while junior Teaira McCowan and redshirt sophomore Zion Campbell are scoring at a 13.0 clip.
The Bulldogs hit a school-record 65.6 percent from the field against Georgia State and brought the season average up to 52.4 percent, which ranks second in the SEC.
Sunday's game against Lady Eagles will be streamed live online on SEC Network +. The radio call can be heard on the MSU Radio Network and www.hailstate.com/plus. WKBB-FM 100.9 and WFCA-FM 107.9 will carry the contest in the Golden Triangle and surrounding areas, while WVBG-FM 105.5 will have the broadcast in Vicksburg.
Tickets for all MSU women's basketball home games cost $5 for adults and $3 for youth age 18 and under. Children age 12 and under can get free admission to every women's game by joining Bully's Kids Club at www.bullyskidsclub.com.
