PENSACOLA, Fla. – A pair of members of the Mississippi State men's tennis team got off to a roaring start at the 2017 Pensacola Futures on Friday at the Roger Scott Tennis Center.
In the first round of qualifying at the USTA Futures event, Florian Broska and Giovanni Oradini each earned straight-set victories to continue qualifying action on Saturday.
Broska started off the day for the Bulldogs by picking up a solid 7-5, 6-1 triumph against Haiti's Hillel Rousseau.
Oradini followed with a victory of his own, blanking Ben Hirsch of the United States 6-0, 6-0.
While Broska and Oradini will continue play on Saturday, State's third-seeded Nuno Borges will start off in the singles main draw on Tuesday.
Next Up For MSU…
After returning from Pensacola, State will turn its attention to a challenging spring schedule, which opens on Jan. 14 at home against UAB.
