MSU Women’s Tennis Rookie Adaloglou Into Round Of 16 At H-E-B Invitational

WACO, Texas – In the first day of action at the H-E-B Invitational, Mississippi State women's tennis rookie Magda Adaloglou advanced to the Round of 16 in singles.
The newcomer Adaloglou fought back from a 3-0 deficit in the second set to defeat TCU's Alexis Pereira 6-1, 6-4. She will take on Jessica Hinojosa Gomez of host Baylor in the Round of 16 on Saturday at 12 p.m. CT. Despite a strong effort, MSU's Sara Lizariturry was outlasted by Houston's No. 2 seed Tsveta Dimitrova 3-6, 6-4, 6-3. She matches up with Louisiana Tech's Claudia Oravcova at 10:30 am CT Saturday in consolation play.
In her first singles match of the season, State's Khrystyna Vozniak was bested in straight sets by Tyler CC's Tamara Arnold 6-3, 6-3. Vozniak will face Louisiana Tech's Karla de la luz Montalvo in Saturday's consolation at 10:30 am CT. The Maroon and White's Caroline Kelly was upended by Baylor's Livia Kraus 6-1, 6-0 on Friday in her opener. In consolation, she matches up with Houston's Ana Glumac at 10:30 am CT Saturday as well.
Starting the day with doubles, the Bulldog pair of Adaloglou and Lizariturry fell to Houston's Lauren Alter and Ana Glumac 8-6. The MSU tandem of Kelly and Vozniak withdrew from the doubles draw.
