Rentouli Claims Singles Title At Roberta Alison Fall Classic

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – To close out the 2017 fall slate, the Mississippi State women's tennis team wrapped up competition Saturday at the Roberta Alison Fall Classic. Highlighting the day's action, junior Bulldog Anastasia Rentouli claimed the singles title in her respective draw.

MSU's Rentouli claimed the championship crown of the Heather Geros Draw, blanking Ann Selim of host Alabama 6-0, 6-0, to finish the weekend 3-0 in singles and 2-1 in doubles.

Bulldogs Janina Braun and Sara Lizariturry were able to pick up the consolation titles in their respective singles draws. In the Alexa Guarachi Draw, MSU's Bruan posted a hard-fought, come-from-behind victory against Tulane's Ivone Alvaro 5-7, 6-4, 1-0(4). State's Lizariturry outlasted Alabama State's Reka Szentes 6-1, 2-6, 1-0(12) in the Susan Carver Draw in another lengthy battle.

In the Myke Loomis Draw, the Maroon & White's Magda Adaloglou fell to Ole Miss' Tea Jandric 6-1, 6-4 in the consolation finals. State's Caroline Kelly dropped a tough three-set affair to Tulane's Sofia Kurtz 3-6, 6-3, 1-0(5) in the third-place match of the Jim Tressler Draw.

In doubles, MSU's tandem of Braun and Rentouli held off Tulane's Sade Atkinson and Christina Sisti 7-5 in the semifinals of the Erin Routliffe Doubles Draw, before falling to Alabama's Andie Daniell and Ann Selim 6-4 in the title match.

Representing State in the Linda Boedecker Draw, State's pair of Adaloglou and Khrystyna Vozniak fell to Texas' Katie Poluta and Dani Wagland and Alabama's Alba Cortina-Pou and Luca Fabian, both by tight 6-4 marks in consolation contests.

Pairing up with Clemson's Laura Marti in the Baili Camino Doubles Draw, MSU's Kelly fell to Lewis' Dora Andrejszki and Nora Mindiyarova 6-2 in the semifinals, before falling in a close battle to Memphis' Laura Bente and Josephine Cao 7-6(5) in the third-place match.
