Brent Rooker Named Preseason All-American by Collegiate Baseball

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Collegiate Baseball released its preseason All-America selections on Monday and a Diamond Dawg made the list.

Junior Brent Rooker was named to the third team preseason All-American list by the nationally-recognized newspaper after a stellar sophomore season in which he hit .324 with a team-high 11 home runs and 54 RBI.

That performance earned him second-team All-SEC honors in 2016, as well as a look from Major League Baseball with the Minnesota Twins selecting Rooker in the 38th-round. He ultimately returned to Starkville to remain a Diamond Dawg.
Most recently, Rooker played summer ball in the Cape Cod League for the Brewster Whitecaps and thrived as he was named a CCBL All Star. Over 36 games, Rooker owned a .303 clip with eight doubles, three homers and 22 RBI.
