State Earns School-Record No. 4 Ranking In USA Today Coaches Poll

STARKVILLE, Miss. – A day after making history in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll, the Mississippi State women's basketball team also earned a program-best ranking in the USA Today Coaches Top 25 Poll as it climbed to No. 4.
The Bulldogs opened SEC play with a 74-48 win against LSU on Sunday. The win gave Vic Schaefer's squad the second-best start in school history at 15-0. State remains the SEC's only undefeated team and one of just three teams in the nation without a loss.
State earned its 45th-straight week in the poll going back to the 2014-15 season. The Bulldogs and South Carolina are the only teams in this week's ranking. The Gamecocks are fifth.
Vic Schaefer's team shot 57.1 percent from the field, the Bulldogs' best effort in an SEC game since Feb. 16, 2003, to open the league slate with a win for the third-straight year.
State seeks to continue its hot start Thursday as it travels to Arkansas for a 7 p.m. tip. The contest will be broadcast online on SEC Network +.
