Vivians Named To Drysdale Watch List; MSU No. 5 In USA Today Poll

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Mississippi State remained in the Top 5 of Tuesday's USA Today Coaches Top 25 Poll while Victoria Vivians was named to another player of the year watch list.
The Bulldog junior was tabbed to the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award Midseason Watch List the same day MSU slipped one spot to No. 5 in the coaches poll.
Mississippi State fell behind South Carolina after a tough 64-61 setback in Columbia, S.C., on Monday. The loss halted the Bulldogs' record start to the season and moved MSU to 20-1 overall and 6-1 in SEC play.
Vivians and senior Breanna Richardson paced MSU in the Top 5 showdown with 12 points each.
Vivians, a Carthage, Miss., native, leads the Bulldogs and ranks fifth in the SEC with 16.9 ppg this season. She is fourth in league games with an 18.1 average.
Vivians was also named to the Wade and Naismith watch lists, as well as the Wooden Midseason Top 25 Watch List.
She has also stepped up her defensive play through the first seven SEC contests, tying for second on the team with 5.7 rebounds per game and swiping a conference third-most 2.6 steals per game.
State and the Gamecocks are the only two SEC teams in this week's poll. Tennessee and Texas A&M, MSU's opponent Sunday at 3 p.m. in Humphrey Coliseum, both received votes.
