Bulldogs gain French standout Simon Baudry before start of 2017 season.
French Tennis Standout Baudry Joins The Bulldog Roster

STARKVILLE, Miss. – French native Simon Baudry joins the Mississippi State men's team as the Bulldogs and head coach Matt Roberts cap the roster before the start of the 2017 season.
"We're excited to announce the addition of Simon to the roster," Coach Roberts said. "We feel like Simon can make an immediate impact with our team and we're excited for what he brings to the lineup. He's ready to start playing and is excited to begin his development and training to become an elite tennis player here at MSU."
Hailing from Bordeaux, France, Baudry has competed in numerous Futures in his home country and abroad to build on his career-high 1748 singles ranking on the ITF Pro Circuit. The right-hander owns a 13.78 Universal Tennis Rating and has compiled 30 singles wins over his career on the circuit. In his 30 singles wins, Baudry ousted 16 foes ranked in the top 1700 with nine of those ranking 1200 or higher.
Baudry has successfully qualified for a futures singles main draw five times, with his most recent being at the France F1 Futures last year. In doubles play, he's advanced as far as the quarterfinals with partner Luciano Agustin Fisicaro of Argentina at the France F14 Futures.
Baudry, a graduate of Bordeaux High School, plans to major in aerospace engineering at MSU.

The Bulldogs open the 2017 season in Malibu, Calif., against Pepperdine on Friday, Jan. 20 at 3 p.m. CT, before traveling south to face San Diego State on Sunday, Jan. 22, at 1 p.m. CT. After six matches on the road, MSU returns to Starkville for its home opener against Tulane on Feb. 24 with first serve slated for 3 p.m. CT.
