MSU’s Vivians On Wooden Award Midseason Watch List

STARKVILLE, Miss. – A sensational start to her junior campaign has earned Mississippi State guard Victoria Vivians a spot on the John R. Wooden Award Midseason Top 25 Watch List, the Los Angeles Athletic Club announced.
Vivians' SEC fifth-best 16.9 ppg has helped lead Mississippi State to an 18-0 record and 4-0 start to SEC play. The Bulldogs' 18-straight victories match the best start in school history, and the 4-0 opening to the league slate is also a program first.
The Carthage, Miss., native scored 21 points in Thursday's 82-49 win against Florida, giving her 12-straight double figure games and 16 for the season. She reached 20 points for the fifth time in six games and the sixth time this season.
Last Sunday Vivians tallied 20 points in the Bulldogs' first-ever victory at Tennessee and notched a double-double with 24 points and 12 rebounds in an SEC-opening win against LSU.
Vivians has started league play averaging 19.5 ppg, the third-best total in the conference.
While known for her ability to score the basketball, Vivians has also stepped up on the defensive end as well, averaging 7.0 rebounds and an SEC second-most 3.8 steals through the first four conference contests. Her 2.0 spg for the season rates seventh in the league.
Earlier this season Vivians was named MVP of the Maine Tipoff Tournament and Rainbow Wahine Showdown. She was also tabbed to the all-tournament team of the Women of Troy Classic.
Vivians and the fourth-ranked Bulldogs return to the friendly confines of Humphrey Coliseum Monday, hosting in-state rival Ole Miss at 6 p.m. on the SEC Network.
