
Two Bulldogs will open the fall season in Athens, Ga.
Southern Intercollegiate Kicks Off Fall State For Bulldogs

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Fall officially arrives for the Mississippi State men's tennis team this Friday, as the Bulldogs travel to Athens, Ga., for 49th annual the Southern Intercollegiate at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex.
A total of 170 singles players and 81 doubles pairs from 32 different schools will converge on the University of Georgia campus, with action beginning at 7 a.m. CT on Friday.
Two Bulldogs, senior Vaughn Hunter and sophomore Trevor Foshey, will represent MSU in Athens as the pair competes in singles and doubles action. Foshey begins the day at 7 a.m. in singles, while Hunter starts his singles run at 10:30 a.m. The tandem will receive a bye in the opening round of doubles action, as the duo faces the winner of Yates/Wallert (Kentucky) and Bragusi/Millstead (Oklahoma) at 9:30 a.m.
"The Southern Intercollegiate is a great fall tournament and I am excited for Vaughn and Trevor to get some great work in this weekend," head coach Matt Roberts said. "Our guys will have a great opportunity to develop their games and compete against quality competition."
The pair competed in one doubles match at the 2015 Southern Intercollegiate, while each player earned significant time at the tourney on the singles court as well. Hunter won two matches on the singles side, while Foshey competed in two in his first action as a Bulldog a year ago.

Following the Southern Intercollegiate, the Bulldogs will compete in the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla. Six Bulldogs will compete at the event, with pre-qualifying play beginning on Oct. 1 while the main draw runs Oct. 6-10.
