Soccer Ranked 10th In Latest NSCAA South Region Poll
September 13, 2016 | Soccer
STARKVILLE, Miss. – After posting a 3-1 record over the last two weekends, the Mississippi State soccer team (5-3-0) placed 10th overall in this week's South Region poll, the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) announced on Tuesday.
The Maroon and White vaulted into the regional rankings after wins against South Alabama, Southern Miss and Louisiana-Lafayette the past two weekends, firmly securing the Bulldogs spot among the best teams in the South Region.
"This is a great honor and I am proud for our team," head coach Aaron Gordon said. "We have improved tremendously this season, but we still have a long road ahead with the SEC slate coming up. This is just another rung on the ladder that we are climbing and recognitions like these help you see how far you've come as a team."
Florida tops the region, followed by Texas A&M, South Carolina, Arkansas, South Alabama, Auburn, Missouri, Alabama, Southeast Missouri State and MSU. The Bulldogs defeated USA on Sept. 2, but the Jaguars have bounced back to knock off No. 1 Florida State and Ole Miss in back-to-back weekends.
This week's ranking marks the second-straight week the Bulldogs have been in the top 10 of the South Region, after last week's No. 8 ranking.

The Bulldogs return to action this Sunday, as MSU hosts Vanderbilt for an ESPNU matchup at 2 p.m. CT.
