Bulldogs Hunter and Cutura No. 19 in doubles
Men’s Tennis Places Three In ITA Preseason Rankings

STARKVILLE, Miss. – After a successful year on the court last season for the men's tennis squad, Mississippi State seniors Mate Cutura and Vaughn Hunter, along with sophomore Nuno Borges were tabbed in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Preseason Rankings, the association announced on Tuesday.
Cutura is ranked 26th overall in singles and 19th in doubles with partner Hunter, while Borges earned the 43rd spot for singles to round out MSU's representatives. The preseason rankings are the highest for all three Bulldogs, as Cutura was the only one to previously be ranked after earning a No. 80 ranking last preseason.
For Cutura, the 26th ranking in singles is his second highest as a Bulldog after climbing to 22nd overall on March 22 of his junior season. The No. 19 ranking in doubles is the highest for Cutura or Hunter and is the best doubles mark the Bulldogs have posted since March 24, 2015.
Coming in at No. 43 in singles and rounding out MSU's ranked players was sophomore Borges. The Porto, Portugal native capped his freshman season ranked 70th overall in singles, despite only spending five weeks ranked. Borges was also named to the All-SEC Second Team, All-Freshman Team and SEC All-Tournament Team in his first season with the Maroon and White.
The ITA also announced the selections for the 2016 ITA All-American Championships, which will be hosted by the University of Tulsa for the 10th-straight year. Six Bulldogs will be featured at the event, with Cutura highlighting the list in the singles main draw. The tournament kicks off with pre-qualifying matches starting on Oct. 1, while the main draw runs Oct. 6-10.
Cutura was the only Bulldog to earn main draw status in singles, while he joins partner Hunter in the main draw for doubles. Borges was named as the third alternate for the main draw in singles while also earning a qualifying spot in singles along with Hunter.
The sophomore duo of Niclas Braun and Trevor Foshey were selected to the qualifying doubles, while Braun, Foshey and fellow sophomore Strahinja Rakic earned a spot on the prequalifying singles list.
