Soccer Places Three on SEC Preseason Watch List

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Mississippi State soccer earned three selections to the Southeastern Conference Preseason Watch List on Wednesday, as league coaches named senior Ari Holmes, junior Mallory Eubanks and sophomore Carly Mauldin as MSU's representatives.
Last season, former Bulldog Shelby Jordan was named to the list, while the selection is the first for all three Bulldogs named on Wednesday.
"These three players are very deserving of this honor and I'm happy to see the league take notice of their talents," head Coach Aaron Gordon said. "We're ready to start the 2016 season and these three will be a big impact for us going into the year."
For Eubanks the honor comes after a successful summer training with the U-19 U.S. Women's National Team. The Lexington, Ky., native led the team in points after earning 10 last year, while also earning two game-winners for the Maroon and White as well.
Sophomore Mauldin is fresh off her best preseason as a Bulldog. The Laurel, Miss., native netted two goals for MSU during the preseason as she led the Maroon and White in two friendly wins. Mauldin led the team in minutes and starting every game at midfield for Gordon's squad last season.
In her first season with the Bulldogs last year, senior Holmes made her impact felt around the league. The Alta Loma, Calif., native was an anchor for MSU on the backline, while the defender also wowed crowds with her power on free kicks and throw ins.
The Bulldogs open the 2016 season on Friday, Aug. 19, at 6:30 p.m., as MSU faces College of Charleston on the road before facing Virginia Tech on Sunday at 10:00 a.m.
