Courtney Robicheaux Q&A
Q: When did you first start playing soccer?
A: "I started playing when I was five then as I got older, I just fell in love with it. It's such an active sport, and I think that's why I really like it. Plus, I am really competitive, and as a player, you can thrive off of that. I also like how it is a team sport; you really have to work with your team to win a game. People are depending on me, and I can in turn depend on them. I got a little nervous in high school when I was deciding to play soccer or not in college, but it passed quickly. There was no question. I knew I wanted to play college ball. Now I am here, and I love it."
Q: You have three siblings; did you guys play soccer growing up?
A: "Yes, we are a soccer family; we all played soccer. We have a really big back yard, so that's all we did growing up. We played two-on-two all of the time. I guess that is another reason why I fell in love with soccer so much because it is something my family and I loved doing together. My mom and dad did not play soccer; it was really my older sister that got it started. Then, we all kind of followed along."
Q: Will any of your siblings play soccer in the future?
A: "My younger brother, Mason, will definitely. He is looking at some smaller schools, which also have fantastic programs, but he is narrowing it down. He is very talented and I can definitely see him playing on the collegiate level."
Q: Why did you decide to come to MSU?
A: "I loved the campus, but meeting my future teammates really helped seal my decision. The girls were so nice, and we all have become really great friends. When new recruits come in now, they comment on how nice we all are to one another, and we tell them about how it's not an act. We hang out all of the time outside of soccer, which you don't get with most teams. Usually, teams will just hang out at soccer then have their own separate friends. We, however, are so close. Seeing that, and seeing how close the team is, I knew I wanted to be apart of that team. I also liked the idea of a rebuilding program."
Q: What is your goal once you graduate from MSU?
A: "My major is human sciences, with a concentration in fashion merchandizing, and I am minoring in business. After I graduate from State, I want to go on to graduate school and pursue a master's degree in business. My goal is to open up my own fashion retail store. I really want to open up my own boutique. Back home, I love to go boutique shopping. That's what makes me happy, so I plan to turn it into a career."
Q: What do you like to do outside of soccer?
A: "We have a really cool courtyard in the middle of the dorm I stay at, so I like to take me ENO and lay out there. It's so pretty, the whole campus is beautiful."
Q: Do you have any advice for future soccer players wishing to play collegiately?
A: "Never give up. I almost gave up one time on my career, and that could have ruined my entire future. I would not be here. They should definitely keep working hard and never give up on their dreams."
