
Freitas Punches Ticket To Rio Olympics In 1500 Meters

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Marta Freitas is heading to Rio!
The Bulldog senior will represent Portugal in the Olympic Games by taking second in the 1500 meters at the Campionats de Catalunya in Barcelona on Thursday.
Freitas, the 2106 NCAA and SEC outdoor champion in the 1500 meters, qualified for the Olympic Games with a time of 4:06.54.
That clocking set an MSU school record in the event, eclipsing the previous mark of 4:06.75 set by former All-American Tiffany McWilliams in 2005.
