One of the most exciting times of the year in Mississippi State athletics is nearly here, as Super Bulldog Weekend 2016 kicks off Friday. As we approach SBW16, a reminder that the best way to keep up with all the happenings of the weekend is by visiting www.hailstate.com/SBW where we have a full schedule of events, information on parking and traffic and helpful links to everything you could need to know for the most enjoyable visit possible.
While many of you will be on hand to see the football team's Maroon-White Game and the No. 2 vs. No. 4 baseball matchup between the Bulldogs and Aggies, I'd like to encourage you to also check out 23rd-ranked men's tennis Friday as they host Vanderbilt, along with softball throughout the weekend as they host LSU at Nusz Park.
The result of so much excitement for the Bulldogs and their great success will be particularly large crowds at our events and around the campus and city. With that in mind, we encourage you to arrive early when possible, giving yourself plenty of time to navigate to your seats, and to remain flexible and patient throughout the weekend. We will have extra people on staff for parking, ticketing and everything in between, so we look forward to hosting everyone on campus.
BASEBALL OVERFLOW, PROMOTIONS PLANNED
With massive crowds expected at Dudy Noble Field, a secondary video board will be placed in the area behind the third-base bleachers for those wanting to keep an eye on the game while enjoying the nearby Kids Zone. We expect well over 10,000 in attendance on Saturday (and every day this weekend!) and we want to make sure everyone is able to enjoy themselves to the fullest.
With enjoyment in mind, make plans to join us after a couple games this weekend, as we will have fireworks on Friday at The Dude following the conclusion of the game and on Saturday night at softball following their contest against LSU. Additionally, we will be giving away posters to the first 5,000 fans at the Maroon-White football scrimmage on Saturday at 11 a.m. Sunday is Military Appreciation Day at baseball and Cancer Awareness Game at softball. Also on Sunday, the first 1,000 baseball fans will receive trading card sets.
BIG WEEKEND FOR MAROON MEMORIES
This weekend seems like a good time to remind any of you who have not taken advantage of Maroon Memories to do so. As part of our ongoing goal to offer fans the best experiences possible with MSU athletics, Maroon Memories offers particularly rare experiences for those who cheer on the Maroon and White. This weekend, for example, fans will have the opportunity to come down on the field at Davis Wade Stadium for a picture at the spring football game, members of the crowd will be able to secure seats in premium seating at Davis Wade, and a number of kids will get to have big moments delivering the rosin bag and leading the seventh inning stretch at Dudy Noble Field.
Access to these experiences and many more is as easy as logging onto www.hailstate.com/memories on your phone.
WRAPPING UP THIS WEEK'S EMAIL IN MAROON AND WHITE
A few more notes as we conclude the update…
- The annual pig-cooking contest has been moved to the parking lot across from basketball's Mize Pavilion, the corner of College View and Bailey Howell Drives, after the rain Starkville received this week.
- At Saturday's football scrimmage, the ticket office will be open 10-11 for will call for those who purchased premium tickets.
- For those unable to come to town, all three baseball games this weekend will be broadcast online on SEC Network+.
- For those who are able to come, don't forget about the policy on coolers, which will be checked upon entry as mandated by the SEC.
- While not strictly sports-related, a reminder to check out the Cotton District Arts Festival in Starkville on Saturday morning before you come to campus for the day of athletic activities.
- Finally, while we make plans for the weekend, make sure to join us for baseball tonight at 6:30 as Coach Cohen's club hosts Memphis on Hump Day at the park.
We appreciate what you do for Mississippi State Athletics and want to encourage you to get others involved. There are three things you can do to help the athletic department at Mississippi State reach its desired goals –
1. Buy Season Tickets
2. Financially Support the Bulldog Club
3. Get Others To Do The Same
Thanks for taking the time to read this Update. Â
Hail State!
