Happy Wednesday, everyone. It's an exciting and special time of year as we enter the holiday season, preparing for another bowl game, playing basketball games and enjoying time with loved ones. Our students are finishing the semester with finals this week, including graduation this weekend for 25 of our great student-athletes.
Saying goodbye as our students go out into the real world is always bittersweet, but we look forward to celebrating their achievement and dedication to Mississippi State. Similarly, we will be celebrating the finish of another successful football season and bidding farewell to an incredible group of seniors when our team travels to Charlotte, North Carolina, for the Belk Bowl on December 30.
It is our record sixth-straight bowl game and we find ourselves as one of only five schools in the SEC who have been to the postseason all six years of this decade. I'm incredibly proud of our maintained success in a time when many other programs run into the ups-and-downs of college football. We've built our football program to last, standing on a strong foundation and looking to a bright future for years to come.
BELK BOWL TICKET INFO
As we prepare for Charlotte, I'm looking forward to MSU's first trip to the Belk Bowl after they became part of the SEC's "Pool of Six" last season. It's a fun city with a great deal going on, which should be enjoyable for MSU fans. So, for those planning to go, make sure you visit www.hailstate.com/tickets to secure your seats today. You'll be pleased to know that all of our tickets this year are located in the lower level and club level, including the south and west sections of the lower bowl.
Each ticket purchased earns one Bulldog Club point for the buyer, and for those who can't go but would like to help out, you can purchase tickets and we will donate them to local military, police and firemen.
For our students, single tickets are on sale now for $40 at www.hailstate.com/tickets and if you'd like to purchase more than one, additional tickets are available for $85 each. Every ticket students purchase will earn them 2,500 Hail State Rewards points.
While you're at it, check out the full travel packages available through our partners at PrimeSport.
WRAPPING UP THIS WEEK'S EMAIL IN MAROON AND WHITE
- All of our teams had the week off from games for finals, but basketball picks back up this weekend. We wish good luck on Saturday to the men on the road against the University of Missouri Kansas City, while our No. 9-ranked women travel south to face Louisiana Tech. Both games will be radio-only broadcasts, available across the MSU Radio Network. Our next home basketball game will be when our ladies host Southern Miss next Wednesday night at 7.
- Congratulations are in order for our three football All-SEC Coaches Team selections, as Dak Prescott and Fred Ross both earned first-team recognition and De'Runnya Wilson was voted as second-team All-SEC. Well-deserved honors for all three.
- I'd also like to say thank you to the National Football Foundation for an excellent evening celebrating the country's most outstanding senior football players last night, and once again, all of us at Mississippi State are incredibly proud of Taveze Calhoun for the type of young man he is and the incredible career he has had in Maroon and White. We look forward to seeing everything your future holds.
We appreciate what you do for Mississippi State Athletics and want to encourage you to get others involved. There are three things you can do to help the athletic department at Mississippi State reach its desired goals –
1. Buy Season Tickets
2. Financially Support the Bulldog Club
3. Get Others To Do The Same
Thanks for taking the time to read this Update.
Hail State!
