Wednesday Bulldog Update - 12/16/15
December 16, 2015
If you or someone you know is not receiving this and would like to, please e-mail us at:
bulldog-club@athletics.msstate.edu
As we close in on Christmas break and the entire holiday, I want to wish all of you a merry Christmas and happy holidays from Mississippi State athletics. I hope you are able to spend time with friends, family, loved ones and, lest I forget, the Bulldogs!
The University officially closes down for the break next Tuesday, but that won't stop us from continuing to compete in the realm of sports until then and even after. We've got two events at home this week, with women's basketball tonight and men's basketball on Saturday, plus I look forward to seeing everyone in Charlotte for the Belk Bowl on December 30. If you've not done so, you can still get your Belk Bowl tickets at www.hailstate.com/tickets. Each bowl ticket purchase is worth a Bulldog Club point. For those of you who can't make it to Charlotte, you can still purchase tickets and allow us to donate them to charities and/or military personnel.
As we move toward that game, I want to make sure you all know to be following the action at our bowl central page- www.hailstate.com/gameday - where you can find information on events, tickets and parking, as well as links to stories, videos, maps and more. Anything you need can be found there.
BASKETBALL TEAMS AT HOME THIS WEEK
As mentioned above, make sure you're able to join us for some hoops this week, both home and away. Our women host Southern Miss tonight at 7 p.m., which you can watch online on SEC Network+. Then, Coach Schaefer's No. 9 Bulldogs travel to Puerto Rico this weekend for the Puerto Rico Classic with a chance to continue playing talented opponents, all three games of which will be broadcast on the MSU Radio Network.
Meanwhile, Coach Howland and the men play at Florida State tonight at 8 p.m. on ESPN2, then they return home to host Tulane on Saturday at 3 p.m., which will be broadcast across the country on the SEC Network.
I hope you'll join us for both home games and tune in when you can for the others. We will have Santa in The Hump on Saturday!
WRAPPING UP THIS WEEK'S EMAIL IN MAROON AND WHITE
- We are always excited to welcome new members to the Mississippi State family, and today we will be doing just that with junior college signing day for our football team. These young men are joining a proud program and we are thrilled to have them help continue our strong tradition.
- Speaking of football, congratulations go again to Dak Prescott for being named the Associated Press first-team All-SEC quarterback and to Fred Ross for being second-team All-SEC as a wide receiver. We're proud of each of your accomplishments this season.
- If you haven't been tracking, we are making more progress on the new MSU softball stadium. Installation of 1,000 new maroon chairbacks in the stands has begun as the stadium is truly taking shape. You can see our most recent aerial shot here.
- A couple of Belk Bowl reminders as you go about preparing: cowbells are allowed into the game, non-clear bags are not. Please review the bag policy here.
- Finally, I'd like to say thank you to Army for hosting my wife Anne and I in Philadelphia this past Saturday for the annual Army-Navy game, a truly special event honoring two branches of our armed forces. It was a treat to see the respect and spirit those two institutions and fans shared for the game of football, and for the special calling they are a part of away from sports. If you've never done so, I'd encourage you to attend in the future.
Have a great holiday season. Hail State!
We appreciate what you do for Mississippi State Athletics and want to encourage you to get others involved. There are three things you can do to help the athletic department at Mississippi State reach its desired goals –
1. Buy Season Tickets
2. Financially Support the Bulldog Club
3. Get Others To Do The Same
Thanks for taking the time to read this Update.
Hail State!
