
Homan’s Record-Setting Win Leads MSU Contingent At State Amateur

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Clay Homan made history on Sunday en route to winning the Mississippi State Amateur Title in Madison.
Homan, the Bulldogs' head men's golf coach, drained a par putt on the 18th hole to break the event's long-standing scoring record with a 17-under 271 and claim his fifth title.
His five State Amateur titles are tied for the third-most in the event's history.
Homan also joined assistant coach Noah Goldman in claiming the Charles Green Team Trophy, which is awarded to the two players from the same club who card the lowest 36-hole total score.
Homan fired an opening-round 67 and matched it again in the third round. He shot a 69 for round two before finishing with a 68 on Sunday.
Goldman claimed a fourth-place finish at Reunion Golf and Country Club, wrapping the four rounds with a 9-under 279.
Current Bulldog Austin Rose tied for 15th with a 2-under 286, while his teammate Ross Bell shot a 1-over 289 to tie for 19th.
Jacob Ross tied for 25th after notching a 5-over 293.
