Hudson and Lowe Add All-American Honors to Resume

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Awards keep piling in for the No. 4 Diamond Dawgs after a championship regular season.
A pair of Mississippi State juniors were named to Collegiate Baseball's second-team All-America list after stellar 2016 campaigns, the publication announced Thursday. Last month, both were honored with first-team All-SEC selections by the conference office.
Right handed junior Dakota Hudson has been dominant on the mound for the Maroon and White in 2016, posting a 2.35 ERA (3rd in SEC) while striking out 107 opposing sluggers (T-3rd in SEC). He notched the second most innings in the Southeastern Conference, tossing 103 1/3 frames during the year.
Hudson's nine wins this season are the most by a Bulldog pitcher since Ross Mitchell had 13 during the 2013 campaign. Yesterday, the Bulldog ace was named one of 25 semifinalists for the prestigious Golden Spikes Award, given to the best amateur baseball player in America.
First baseman Nathaniel Lowe has arguably been one of the most crucial pieces to the Bulldog's bounce-back season in 2016, starting every single game at first for the Maroon and White. He is second on the team with a .355 batting average (7th in SEC), while also leading the Bulldogs in doubles (20, 3rd in SEC), RBIs (48, 13th in SEC), hits (81, 5th in SEC) and total bases (116, 12th in SEC).
The No. 6 national seeded Bulldog's begin their 35th NCAA Tournament tomorrow at Dudy Noble Field at 1:30 p.m. against Southeast Missouri.
