MSU Awards 26 Varsity Letters In Baseball

STARKVILLE, Miss. - Seven seniors are among 26 members of the Mississippi State baseball team awarded varsity letters for the 2006 season by MSU head coach Ron Polk.
This year's letterman's list includes six four-year letter-winners, seven juniors, seven sophomores and four freshmen.
Shortstop Thomas Berkery (Sarasota, Fla.,), outfielder Jeff Butts (Daphne, Ala.), pitcher Brett Cleveland (Independence, Miss.), pitcher Brooks Dunn (Birmingham, Ala.), outfielder Joseph Hunter (Germantown, Tenn.), first baseman Brad Jones (Orlando, Fla.) are the six seniors that were awarded their fourth letters monograms. Senior infielder Brooks Tinsley (West Point, Miss.) was awarded his first varsity letter.
Junior letter-winners include pitcher Jon Crosby (Germantown, Tenn.), pitcher Josh Johnson (Caledonia, Miss.), first baseman/DH Brian LaNinfa (Venice, Fla.), catcher Joseph McCaskill (Jackson, Miss.), second baseman Jeffrey Rea (Nettleton, Miss.), outfielder Matt Richardson (Lawrenceburg, Ky.) and pitcher Mike Valentine (Midlothian, Va.).
The seven sophomore letter-winners include catcher Edward Easley (Olive Branch, Miss.), shortstop Bunky Kateon (Mobile, Ala.), pitcher John Lalor (Germantown, Tenn.), pitcher/outfielder Mitch Moreland (Amory, Miss.), pitcher Justin Pigott (Picayune, Miss.), outfielder Andy Rice (Amory, Miss., and third baseman Michael Rutledge (Cullman, Ala.).
Freshmen earning varsity letters are pitcher Chad Crosswhite (Brandon, Miss.), first baseman Jeff Flagg (Jacksonville, Fla.), pitcher Matt Lea (Collierville, Tenn.), and pitcher Aaron Weatherford (Fairhope, Ala.).
MSU also awarded varsity letters in baseball to four student managers - senior B.J. Kent, juniors J.P. Davis and Wesley Goodwin and sophomore Thomas Marino.
