Diamond Dogs No. 19 In Final Baseball Coaches Poll

The Diamond Dogs, who captured the 2005 SEC Baseball Tournament championshipand concluded the year with a 42-22 record, garnered a pair of top 25rankings and were included in three of the four season-ending nationalpolls.
In addition to the No. 19 placement in the coaches poll, State was ranked22nd by Baseball America and 33rd by the National Collegiate BaseballWriters Association. Seven teams from the Southeastern Conference, led bysecond-ranked Florida, were included in the final top 25 baseball coachespoll for 2005.
The Bulldogs, playing in their 28th NCAA postseason competition and their21st NCAA regional tournament, advanced to the championship round of the2005 NCAA Coral Gables Regional.
State finished the year with top five league ranking in all three major teamstatistical categories ?€? tied for fifth with a .297 batting average, secondwith a 3.51 team earned run average, and tied for fourth with a .969 teamfielding percentage.
