May 25, 2016 | Baseball
The 6:30 p.m. game was originally scheduled April 6 but was postponed due to weather conditions.
Freshman right-hander John Lalor (3-0, 2.13 ERA) will draw the start Monday for State while sophomore righty Brandon Hynick (7-3, 2.26 ERA), the ace of the Panthers' pitching staff, will start for Birmingham-Southern.
State is in the midst of a run of five games on five consecutive days. The Bulldogs posted a 5-3 Sunday win to claim their fifth SEC weekend series of the year with a 2-1 showing against the 12th-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide at Dudy Noble Field. MSU closes out the current run in a 6:30 p.m. Tuesday game at Dudy Noble Field against Mississippi Valley State (19-25).
Birmingham-Southern had a nine-game winning streak snapped in its last outing, a 5-2 loss at Jacksonville State last Wednesday.
Tuesday's contest with MVSU was added to the Bulldog schedule to replace an opening weekend rainout against Eastern Illinois. Season ticket holders are reminded that the Game 3 Eastern Illinois ticket will be honored at Tuesday's game.
The Bulldogs close out SEC road competition this weekend in Gainesville, Fla., with a three-game series against the University of Florida Gators.
