State's Todd Doolittle Earns SEC Pitcher Of The Week Honors

The righthander from Meridian, Miss., matched a career-high with eightinnings pitched in Mississippi State's series-clinching 13-4 win inFayetteville over the fifth-ranked Razorback. Doolittle (3-1, 3.47)scattered five hits with five strikeouts and one earned run allowed.
It's the first such honor for the former West Lauderdale High School andMeridian Community College standout and the first for a Bulldog pitcher thisyear. As a junior in 2004 righthander Alan Johnson claimed the honor aschool-record three times.
The win over the defending SEC champion Razorbacks clinched State's secondstraight SEC series and MSU's seventh series in the past eight againstArkansas.
Doolittle is 2-0 with a 2.45 earned run average in league play two weeksinto the 2005 SEC baseball season.
Mississippi State (17-4, 4-2 SEC) climbed to 14th in the latest CollegiateBaseball newspaper rankings. The Bulldogs face No. 6 Mississippi Tuesday at6:30 p.m. in the 26th annual Entergy/Mayor's Trophy game at Smith-WillsStadium in Jackson, Miss., before venturing on to Knoxville, Tenn., for athree-game SEC weekend series against the Tennessee Volunteers.
