Mississippi State Golfers Falter, Finish Twelfth At Atlanta Intercollegiate

Auburn, winners of the 2002 Southeastern Conference Championships, finished in first place, five shots in front of runner-up Florida. Georgia finished third.
Joe Deraney, Codie Mudd and Kellen Maurer each fired a final-round 76 on Friday to pace Mississippi State. Deraney dropped to 19th place after starting the day in a tie for ninth place. Mudd finished tied for 20th, while Maurer completed the event in 63rd place. Tim Satow finished in a tie for 52nd place while Craig Horrocks finished in 62nd place for the Bulldogs.
"It was a disappointing way for us to finish the season," MSU head coach Greg Martin said following Friday's round. "But we feel like we have a lot to work with for next season. We have everybody coming back and a lot of young players who will get better and make our team much stronger."
UAB's Graeme McDowell blistered the course, winning medallist honors after firing a 19-under total of 197, finishing nine shots in front of Augusta State's Scott Jamieson.
