Bulldog Linksters Finish Fourth At Billy Hitchcock Intercollegiate

AUBURN, Ala. -- The Mississippi State men's golf team completed play at the Auburn-hosted Billy Hitchcock Intercollegiate Sunday, finishing fourth in the three-round event. The Bulldogs fired a final-round 295 (+7) to finish five shots behind Southern Methodist. Auburn won the event, finishing six shots ahead of second-placed Southeastern Louisiana.
Codie Mudd and Kellen Maurer both finished in a tie for seventh place to pace Mississippi State. Mudd shot a final-round 74 (+2), while Maurer fired a two-under-par 70 for the Bulldogs. Joe Deraney began the day three shots out of first place, but struggled with a 78 on Sunday to finish 17th. Tim Satow finished tied for 41st and Craig Horrocks finished in a tie for 49th.
Auburn's Craig Haefner (-9) won individual medallist honors by four strokes over Southeastern Louisiana's Andy Smith.
State will take two weeks off before competing in the Southeastern Conference Championships, to be held April 19-21 at the Sea Island Golf Course in Sea Island, Georgia.
