STARKVILLE, Miss. -- Freshman standout Tiffany McWilliams was named the Athlete of the Week for the week of April 3, 2002, the Southeastern Conference announced Wednesday.
The Red Bay, Ala., native led the Bulldogs to a first-place finish at the Bulldog Invitational by winning the 800- and 1500-meter runs.
McWilliams won both races in convincing fashion, taking the 800m by 9 seconds over her closest competitor with her time of 2:09.3 and winning the 1500m by 23 seconds (4:31.6).
McWilliams is the first Lady Bulldog to win the award since Elisha Williams for the week of March 20, 2001.
McWilliams will be in action April 4-6 at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in Austin, Texas.
