May 25, 2016 | Women's Basketball
Thomas led the SEC in scoring for the third-consecutive year, averaging nearly 25 points per game. That average is fourth-best nationally. The Greenville-native also leads the squad in rebounding, averaging 9.6 boards per contest. Her 13 double-doubles this season gives her 33 for her career. Thomas ended the season on a scoring surge, scoring at least 30 points in five of her last seven games. She scored at least 40 points twice this season and poured in 30 points on nine different occasions.
The two-time Kodak All-American became MSU's all-time leading scorer during the 68th game of her career, and she became the only Lady Bulldog to reach the 2,000-point plateau when she accomplished that feat in her 88th game. She was named SEC Player of the Week three times this season, becoming the seventh player in the award's history to do so.
White is second on the squad in scoring (18.8 ppg) and rebounding (7.5 rpg). She leads State in assists (4.5 apg), steals (2.8 spg) and blocks (1.0 bpg). She had a 27-game double-digit scoring streak broken in the last game of the regular season when she scored just eight points versus Florida. White, who has nailed a team-best 51 three-pointers, broke the school record for most three-pointers by a freshman just 17 games into the season. She has tallied nine double-doubles and has scored at least 20 points on 14 occasions.
White was named SEC Player of the Week once and was named MVP of both the MSU Classic and the Tourneo de Basquetbol, which was played in Cancun. She also scored a career-high 28 points versus Top-10 rated Iowa State earlier in the season.
Mississippi State, seeded fifth, will meet 12th-seeded Kentucky in the opening round of the SEC Tournament Thursday. The two teams will square off at 6 p.m. (CST) at the Gaylord Entertainment Center in Nashville.
