The Greenville, Miss., native scored 40 points and grabbed 14 rebounds in leading State to an 83-63 victory over No. 15 Florida Sunday in Starkville. She scored 33 points and pulled down 11 boards in her previous outing at LSU. She has recorded 13 double-doubles this season and has scored 30+ points in five of her last seven games.
Thomas leads the SEC in scoring for the third straight season, averaging nearly 25 points per game. Sunday's 40-point performance marked her second this season against a ranked opponent. The two-time Kodak All-American has been selected First Team All-SEC in each of her first two seasons and is a two-time finalist for Naismith Player of the Year.
Jennifer Fambrough, Lyndi Sippel and Meagan O'Nan earned spots on the SEC honor roll, which was released on Monday.
Fambrough graduated last August in accounting and is currently working on a Masters in Business Administration degree. The Dickson, Tenn., native returned to the court last Sunday versus Florida following a five-game absence because of back surgery. The 6-0 forward scored 18 points in her last home game as a Lady Bulldog.
Sippel, who filled in for Fambrough in the post starting five games, is a sophomore kinesiology major from Rising Fawn, Ga. In her first collegiate start at Alabama, she scored 15 points in 27 minutes of work.
O'Nan, a role player from Starkville, is a sophomore majoring in educational psychology. She was selected to the SEC Good Works Team for her efforts in the community, which include volunteer work with the Special Olympics, Habitat for Humanity and area youth groups. The 5-8 guard also does a lot of work with area youth groups and Sunday schools as well as preparing weekly devotions for the team.
Mississippi State will meet Kentucky in the first round of the SEC Tournament, which begins play on Thursday. State will tip off its postseason at 6 p.m. (CST) in the Gaylord Entertainment Center in Nashville.
