EUGENE, Ore. -- Mississippi State's Elisha Williams landed a 20-10 1/2 long jump to take fifth place at the GMC Envoy USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Ore., this past weekend.
The Milton, Fla., native and two-time all-American for head coach Al Schmidt earned a spot on the United States' national team that will compete at the World University Games in Beijing, China, Aug. 23-27.
Jenny Adams won her first U.S. title with a 22-0 1/4 leap. Williams finished second behind Adams at this year's NCAA Indoor Championships in Fayetteville, Ark., to earn the Lady Bulldogs' first indoor all-America honors.
Williams, who currently ranks fourth in the United States in the event, will compete in a couple of meets over the next two months to prepare for the Beijing-hosted event.
