Bulldogs Take Seventh at Atlanta Intercollegiate

ATLANTA -- Mississippi State shot rounds of 311 and 299 Friday to end the 2001 season with a seventh-place finish at the Atlanta Intercollegiate in Atlanta.After rain suspended Thursday's second round, head coach Greg Martin's Bulldogs struggled to end the round with a 311 mark. State concluded the tournament with a 905 after firing a 299 for the second round. Georgia won the tournament with an 833 mark.

Sophomore Codie Mudd shot rounds of 77 and 74 to end the tournament tied with teammate T.J. Washburn in 20th place. After opening play with a 72, Washburn carded a 77 in the second round and a final-round 75 to post his first career top-20 finish.

Senior Scott Shelton struggled to an 80 for the second round before firing his second 73 of the tournament to end the 54-hole event in 27th place with a 226 mark. Jason McKenzie shot rounds of 83 and 77, respectively, to tie for 40th place with a 237.

Freshman Andrew Saft bettered an opening-round 83 with rounds of 77 and 79 to finish the Georgia State-hosted event in 42nd place at 239.
