Ten Soccer Bulldogs Garner Academic All-SEC Honors

This year's class marked the fourth-straight season that the Bulldog Soccer team has sent double-digit honorees to the coveted student-athlete honor.
To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must: 1) have a 3.0 grade point average for either the past year of for their career; 2) be a sophomore or higher in academic classification; and 3) have 24 semester hours countable toward a degree. The 2000 SEC Women's Soccer Academic Honor Roll is based on grades from the 1999-2000 academic calendar.
Of Mississippi State's 26 players on its 2000 roster, 14 are freshmen or newcomers. Ten of 12 eligible athletes on State's soccer team, that is a sophomore or higher in academic standing, received conference academic accolades this season. Senior Annemarie Pimentel and sophomore Stephanie Lyon were two of just nine athletes on the 123-member honor roll with 4.0 grade point averages for their career.
"We are very proud of our team's academic achievements," said Mississippi State head coach Neil McGuire. "Each player has dedicated themselves in the classroom and these statistics speak volumes for their effort.
"MSU athletics prides itself on both academic and athletic excellence and this shows the strength of our commitment."
