STARKVILLE, Miss. - Following up one of the best seasons in recent history on the pitch, the Mississippi State soccer team didn't disappoint in the classroom either as the Bulldogs earned one of the best team GPAs in program history.
MSU earned a 3.35 GPA in the spring semester, which was the second highest team GPA over the last decade.
“I am proud of how we performed this semester in the classroom,” head coach Aaron Gordon said. “We take pride in our academics as much as we do on the field success. This is no surprise for us, because we have players on our team who are talented on the field and gifted in the classroom.”
Of the 26 student-athletes on the team, 17 earned a place on the Bulldog Honor Roll with GPAs of 3.0 or better for the semester.
McKenzie Adams, Ciara Donnelly, Mallory Eubanks, Payton Gruenewald, Jen Huckaby and Courtney Robicheaux all were named “Top Dawgs” as well as a place on the President's Scholar List after posting perfect 4.0 GPAs for the semester. Elva Astthorsdottir, Kelly Dorney and Kiley Martens also earned a spot on the President's Scholar List after earning a 3.80 or better GPA.
Rounding out the distinctions were Lauryn Bruffett, Kayleigh Henry, Sarah Hulett, Shelby Jordan, Carly Mauldin and Morgan Mills, who all earned GPAs between 3.50 and 3.79 to earn a place on the Dean's Scholar List.
Last year the Bulldogs earned a 3.56 GPA for the spring semester, which was a program best.
