BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – With the spring season in full swing, the Mississippi State soccer team wrapped up two friendlies on Sunday against Memphis and UAB to continue its exhibition slate.
Sunday's exhibition pitted the Bulldogs against Memphis in a 45-minute contest, followed up by a 45-minute exhibition with UAB. Both games ended in a scoreless draw.
“Today we had a great bounce back performance from Friday night,” head coach Aaron Gordon said. “I thought we improved on every phase overall and we did a great job against two good teams in Memphis and UAB. Playing against two teams was very beneficial for us, because we got a look against two different styles of play.”
Despite not scoring a goal on Sunday, the Bulldog offense looked much improved as MSU recorded seven shots on goal. The highlight of MSU's attack was Mallory Eubanks who had two shots, with one on target.
At goal the Bulldogs did not allow a score, as keepers Courtney Tompkins and Rhylee DeCrane played between the posts.
MSU used 20 players in Sunday's exhibitions, with every Bulldog who made trip recording minutes.
With five exhibitions under their belt, the Bulldogs travel to Texas for a showdown against TCU at Toyota Stadium on Saturday at 2 p.m.
