STARKVILLE, Miss – After wrapping the regular season on its home course, the Mississippi State men's golf team enters the postseason as it travels to St. Simons Island, Georgia, for the SEC Championship.
The three-day, 54-hole championship begins Friday at the par-70 Seaside Course at Sea Island Golf Club. The Bulldogs tee off alongside Missouri at 8:10 a.m. CST.
“You always look forward to competing at the SEC Championship against the very best amateur players in the world,” MSU coach Clay Homan said. “It is a tremendous opportunity for our team to take that next step in its development.”
Eight of the 14 SEC schools participating are ranked in the Top 25.
Headlining MSU's SEC Championship lineup is Senior Ben Wood, who is coming off an eighth-place finish in the Old Waverly Collegiate Championship.
Jacob Ross returns to competition after missing the Bulldogs' home event with an illness. Ross Bell, who matched Wood with an eighth-place showing at Old Waverly, joins fellow underclassmen Taylor Grant and Taylor Bibbs and Ross Bell in rounding out the MSU lineup.
“It looks like we will play in a lot of high winds this week, so it's really going to test our patience and toughness.” Homan said.
