STARKVILLE, Miss. – After a successful sophomore campaign with the Mississippi State women's soccer team, Mallory Eubanks earned an invitation to the United States U-19 Women's National Team training camp later this month.
The camp runs March 12-19 in Davis, Calif., with the focus on building a roster ahead of the 2016 FIFA Women's World Cup held in Papua New Guinea later this year. The camp will be run by U.S. Development Coach Jitka Klimkova.
“It's really exciting to be invited back to a national team camp,” Eubanks said. “It's such a great honor to represent our country for a week and to train and compete at such a high level.”
Of the 26 players called up, 16 are currently playing in college and the remaining 10 are still playing youth club soccer. Most of the players in the camp were born in 1997 or 1996, with the cutoff year for the next U-20 Women's World Cup being the latter.
For Eubanks, this year's distinction marks the second-consecutive year the Lexington, Ky., native has earned a call up to the Women's National Team.
“I'm looking forward to going back and using my experience from last year's camp to give me more confidence to compete everyday,” Eubanks said.
Last season, Eubanks played and started in all 18 games for the Bulldogs and led Aaron Gordon's squad with 10 points.
Eubanks and the rest of the Bulldogs opens the spring slate this Saturday at the MSU Soccer Field against Southern Miss at noon and Louisiana Monroe at 3:15 CT.
