Men?s Track & Field Team Earns Victory At Armory Invite

NEW YORK CITY, N.Y. – Scoring 88 points, the Mississippi State men's team brought home the first-place team finish at the Armory Track Invite Saturday.
“I'm very proud of how strong these athletes competed this weekend,” MSU coach Steve Dudley said. “This is a great place to be as we move toward post season, however, there are still some areas we need to work on. This is a good win to take home, but we will continue to practice and improve as a team. We are constantly working toward getting better.”
Finishing out the meet, the men's 4x400m relay comprised of Juston Waters, Charles Taylor, Alfred Larry and Rasheed Tatham posted a time of 3:09.41 to bring home first in the event. Earlier in the day the foursome also finished first in the 4x200m relay after running a meet record time of 1:25.20.
After clearing a personal-best 7-00.50 in the high jump invite, senior Seth Peace finished first collegiately, second overall, in the event.
On the women's side, Madison Milhoan, Marta Freitas, Antonia Hehr and Ffion Price competed in the women's 4x800m relay and brought home a first-place finish for the Bulldogs. The foursome ran a time of 8:51.60 to earn the victory.
Distance runner Cornelia Griesche posted a personal-best in the 3000m run after clocking a time of 9:30.83 to place third. Her time is the second-best in program history.
Scoring three points for the women's team, the 4x200m relay team made up of Leah Lott, Ste'yce McNeil, Alon Lewis and Kimari Martin posted a time of 1:39.62 to finish sixth.
Also on the track earning sixth place, the women's 4x400m relay made up of Martin, McNeil, Freitas and Lewis clocked a time of 3:46.61 in the event.
Brandon McBride ran 4:11.96 in the mile run to finish sixth, while Mia Meydrich finished 11th on the women's side with a time of 4:58.97 immediately followed by Antonia Hehr in 12th after running a time of 4:59.53.
In the field for the women's team, Tiffany Flynn scored one point in the triple jump after finishing eighth with a leap of 39-09.25. Flynn also scored one point after an eighth-place finish in the 60m hurdles finals with a time of 8.50.
With the conclusion of the Armory Invite, MSU will turn attention toward the Music City Challenge in Nashville Feb. 12-13.
