February 01, 2016 | Women's Basketball
STARKVILLE, Miss. – A week that included the program's first win against Tennessee and a road victory at Arkansas moved the Bulldogs to No. 11 in Monday's Associated Press Top 25 Poll.
The Bulldogs climbed two places and earned their 31st-straight week in the poll, the 11th-longest active streak in the nation.
After claiming the historic victory Thursday in Humphrey Coliseum, Vic Schaefer's squad completed its first season sweep of the Razorbacks since 2007 to improve to 19-4 on the season and 6-3 in SEC play.
Sitting in second place in the SEC standings, MSU is one win away from claiming three straight 20-win seasons for the first time.
The Bulldogs' first opportunity to accomplish the feat comes Thursday when State travels to LSU for an 8 p.m. tip on the SEC Network.
MSU returns home Sunday for a 2 p.m. start against a Missouri squad that moved up one position to No. 21. The Bulldogs and Tigers are two of seven teams in this week's poll.
State is the league's second-highest rated team behind No. 2 South Carolina. Texas A&M fell just behind MSU at No. 12, while Kentucky dropped six places to 18th.
Florida moved back into the poll at No. 22, just ahead of Tennessee after the Lady Vols fell four places to No. 23.
