State No. 5 In Coaches Poll; Named NCAA Team Of The Week

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Another day has brought about more history in the polls for the Mississippi State women's basketball team as the Bulldogs climbed to a program-best No. 5 in Tuesday's USA Today Coaches Poll.
Vic Schaefer's squad was also named NCAA Team of the Week after claiming the largest comeback in school history to earn an 85-81 overtime road win at Iowa State in the SEC/Big 12 Challenge.
The Bulldogs overcame a 17-point halftime deficit to halt ISU's 96-game win streak in regular season non-conference games at Hilton Coliseum.
The victory improved MSU to 8-0 on the season heading into Saturday's road contest at Southern Miss. Tip for the game is set for 2 p.m.
Tuesday's record ranking in the coaches poll comes a day after State claimed its best Associated Press poll ranking at No. 5.
Like the AP poll, State is the highest-ranked SEC team, landing one spot ahead of South Carolina. Kentucky checked in at 18th, while Florida stayed in the poll at No. 25.
