STARKVILLE, Miss. – Former Bulldog and current New York Giant Deontae Skinner is the latest to be featured on Mississippi State football's #FromStateToSundays digital billboard campaign.
The digital billboards will be on display Sunday in two locations within the Meadowlands Sports Complex which encompasses MetLife Stadium, with the Giants hosting the Philadelphia Eagles at noon CT live on FOX:
Route 3 West Bound
Route 3 East Bound
Skinner was originally signed by the Patriots as a undrafted free agent in 2014. Two weeks after being signed to the Pats' practice squad on September 1 of that year, he was promoted to the active roster, joining fellow Bulldog linebacker Chris White in helping the Patriots win Super Bowl XLIX. 2014 saw him play in seven games, including one start. In that season, he notched 16 tackles with one sack. After spending the entire 2015 season on the Philadelphia Eagles practice squad, Skinner was signed to the Giants' practice squad on September 13 and was promoted to the active roster on October 11.
Before donning the Maroon and White, the Brooksville, Mississippi, native was an All-State performer at Noxubee County High School in nearby Macon. After redshirting his true freshman year on campus, Skinner went on to play four seasons and tally 202 career tackles, including 64 in his senior year—good enough for second on the team. In just his sophomore year, he finished second on the team in tackles for loss with 9.0.
Last weekend, MSU featured Carolina Panther Kyle Love in four locations across Charlotte. The defensive lineman played on the defensive line for the Bulldogs from 2006 to 2009 and played a big role in Sylvester Croom's 2007 team that won the Liberty Bowl.
A total of 13 Bulldogs are currently on active NFL rosters. Another two are on injured reserve and five others are on practice squads. All 20 of them played for Dan Mullen at State.
