Blair Schaefer A Nominee For Allstate WBCA/NABC Good Works Team

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Mississippi State junior guard Blair Schaefer has been named a nominee for the Allstate WBCA/NABC Good Works Team, the organizations announced Wednesday.
Schaefer is one of a record 278 nominees for the award, which honors outstanding community service and leadership.
Since coming to Mississippi State, Schaefer has been very active in community service events, and she also serves as one the women's basketball SAAC representative and a member of the SEC Basketball Student-Athlete Leadership Council.
She has assisted the last two years with the T.K. Martin Fun Run, an event benefitting MSU's T.K. Martin Center for Technology and Disability. During the summer, she and her teammates judged the talent show for Camp Jigsaw, a camp at MSU for youth with autism.
Schaefer has also served the past three years at Starkville's Travis Outlaw Day, and she has been a regular participant during her career at Bully's Book Blitz, an initiative where Bulldog student-athletes go to local schools to encourage students on the value of reading.
She has also been actively involved with Chick-fil-a Family Night and Starkville School District's Breakfast of Champions, a pair of events that encourage local youth to pursue healthy living and active lifestyles.
The 2016 SEC Community Service Team selection has also volunteered with the Special Olympics, the MSU M-Club's bottle water drive for those affected by the Louisiana floods and the Miss MSU's Colleges Against Cancer 5K.
In addition, she has also been part of the Starkville School District's Walk to School Day, Henderson Elementary's Perfect Attendance Party/Behavior Bash and Step Up For Kids.
Schaefer has been a standout in the classroom as well, earning SEC Academic Honor Roll accolades her first two seasons on campus.
On the court, Schaefer has played in all seven games for the sixth-ranked Bulldogs, tallying 3.1 ppg and knocking down 85.7 percent from the free-throw line.
