Trevor Foshey enters his sophomore season with the Bulldogs.
Know Your Bulldog: Trevor Foshey

Making a transition from horrible traffic and theme parks to Starkville was an adjustment for Mississippi State men's tennis sophomore and St. Cloud, Fla., native Trevor Foshey, but one he's gladly made the change in his short time with the Bulldogs.
Â
In his first season, Foshey earned seven singles wins and 10 doubles victories to cap off his freshman campaign. His season was highlighted by a three-set defeat of Jake Stefanik to propel the Bulldogs past 20th-ranked Kentucky and earn another SEC Tournament semifinal appearance for the tennis squad.
Â
"That win was an amazing feeling," Foshey said. "It was one of the best moments of my freshman season because I was able to bring home the win for my brothers."
Â
Foshey says that there is a unique bond within the MSU men's tennis team and given the small size of the group, all of the guys are pretty close. This sentiment is amplified by the fact that Foshey is the only American on the team; with all of his teammates hailing from overseas. He plays a special role in helping his fellow Bulldogs adjust to life in America.
Â
"Being the only player on the team with a car is not as amazing as it sounds," Foshey said. "Everybody wants to use my car, but it's very nice that I have the ability to help the guys out when they need to get somewhere or do something off campus."
Â
Foshey also gets perks in return. Not only have unbreakable bonds of brotherhood been formed, but he also takes a keen interest into learning what life outside of the United States is like.
Â
"The main thing I have learned from my teammates is to show respect to the other countries and their traditions," Foshey said. "It has helped me to become more open minded about different things when looking at life from their perspective."
Â
Foshey's eyes have been opened to new possibilities while at MSU, while playing for a team he loves as he grows and develops alongside his Bulldog brothers.
Â
"I wouldn't trade this place for anything," Foshey said. "I love it here and we're a family on and off the court. There's no better feeling than battling alongside people you call your brothers and winning together."
Foshey and his Bulldog brothers begin the spring slate on the road Jan. 20, 2017 when State takes on Pepperdine in Malibu, Calif. MSU opens home action at the A.J. Pitts Tennis Centre on Feb. 24, 2017 as the Maroon and White hosts the Tulane Green Wave.Â
