STARKVILLE, Miss. – A 79-68 upset of Texas moved Mississippi State up three places to No. 7 in this week's Associated Press Top 25 poll.
The No. 7 ranking matches the program's highest ranking in the poll.
The Bulldogs improved to 4-0 on the season as they claimed their first win against a Top 10 opponent since 2010.
MSU remains one of two SEC teams in the Top 10, with South Carolina coming in at No. 3. Texas fell to No. 14 after Sunday's setback, two places ahead of Florida and Tennessee at Nos. 16 and 17, respectively.
Kentucky dropped five spots to No. 20, while Missouri fell out of the poll.
Mississippi State heads to Honolulu, Hawaii, to compete in this weekend's Rainbow Wahine Showdown. The Bulldogs face Oregon Friday at 7 p.m. CT and San Jose State at the same time on Saturday. State wraps the trip against host Hawaii on Sunday at 8:30 p.m.
