TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – One week after knocking off No. 4 Texas A&M, Mississippi State football aims for another top-five victory as the Bulldogs travel to take on No. 1 Alabama in what will be the 100th game for head coach Dan Mullen at 11 a.m. CT Saturday in a sold out Bryant-Denny Stadium. Senior wide receiver Fred Ross is 18 receiving yards shy of breaking his third career MSU receiving record. He is at 2,252 receiving yards, 18 shy of Chad Bumphis' mark. Ross has already broken MSU career records for receptions and 100-yard games.
Mullen 100 Games
Mullen will become just the second head coach in MSU history to coach in 100 games joining Jackie Sherrill. He will also join Alabama's Nick Saban as the only two current SEC coaches to reach the 100-mark point at his current school.
MSU vs. No. 1
The Bulldogs are 1-5 all-time against No. 1 ranked teams. This is the first time MSU will face a No. 1 ranked team since Alabama on Nov. 16, 2013 in Starkville. MSU's only victory over a No. 1 ranked team occured 36 years ago in the infamous 6-3 game against Alabama on Nov. 1, 1980.
Fitzgerald Streaking
QB Nick Fitzgerald has recorded at least 100 yards rushing in three straight games, and he's notched at least two rushing touchdowns in four straight games. That is the first by an MSU player since at least 1970.
