Three Bulldogs Tie For Team Leader In Round Two Of Cougar Classic

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Improving two strokes on Monday, the Mississippi State women's golf team finished the second round of the Cougar Classic with a 294 and in 16th place.
A solid final round at Yeaman's Hall Golf Club could put MSU in the Top 15 as the squad sits one shot back.
"We are beginning to gel as a team. We still need to do a better job of getting up and down on shorter par 5s for birdies and continue to work on putts inside six feet," MSU coach Ginger Brown-Lemm said. "We are making progress, and we have lots of positives to take into Tuesday's final round."
Athena Yang paved the way for the Bulldogs in Sunday's first round, and she was joined Monday by veterans Ji Eun Baik and Jessica Peng as the trio each carded a 73. Yang and Peng finished their first nine holes even par. Peng tallied four birdies, while Yang finished with a pair. The duo finished Monday tied for 44th and 58th, respectively.
After shooting 2-over for her opening nine holes, Baik finished strong with a pair of birdies to clear the back nine 1-under par and wrap the day tied for 76th.
Teri Doss finished the day tied for 65th with a 75, while Katie Holt tailed a 78 for her second round.
The Bulldogs wrap action at the Cougar Classic on Tuesday.
