October 26, 2016 | Soccer
STARKVILLE, Miss. – With the 2016 season officially coming to an end on Thursday night, the Mississippi State soccer team (6-11-0, 1-9-0 SEC) welcomes Texas A&M (9-7-1, 4-5-1 SEC) to the MSU Soccer Field as the Bulldogs look to spoil the Aggies' postseason hopes.
Kickoff between the Bulldogs and Aggies is set for 7:05 p.m. CT, with the game streaming on SEC Network +.
"We've had a great week of training and look forward to tomorrow night's game against Texas A&M," head coach Aaron Gordon said. "The Aggies are a very good team that's been at the top of our conference in most seasons, but we look at this as an opportunity to carry momentum into next season. We still have a lot to play for and I'm excited for the challenge ahead on Thursday night."
Last Time Out
An impressive performance from MSU fell short on Sunday afternoon as the 20th-ranked Florida Gators scored in the 80th minute to turn away an upset bid by the Bulldogs in Gainesville. In defeat, goalie Tanya de Souza made a handful of amazing stops to keep the Gators off the board as she finished the game with nine saves.
Scouting Texas A&M
The Aggies are 9-7-1 on the season, earning a 4-5-1 record in conference. Despite opening SEC play 2-0, Texas A&M did not win another conference match until last Thursday against Kentucky in overtime. TAMU followed up that win with an upset of No. 11 Auburn after scoring in the 83rd minute to knock off the ranked Tigers.

No. 17 Virginia Tech (1-2), Lipscomb (0-1), Vanderbilt (1-2), Missouri (1-2), No. 4 South Carolina (0-1), LSU (0-1) and No. 20 Florida (0-1) make up the one-goal defeats. Furthermore, the winning goal in the three ranked losses against No. 17 Virginia Tech, No. 4 South Carolina and No. 20 Florida have all come within the final 11 minutes of the game.
