Lee VanHorn Named Coordinator of Baseball Operations

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Mississippi State head baseball coach John Cohen announced Lee VanHorn as the team's new coordinator of baseball operations Tuesday.
A 2012 graduate of MSU, VanHorn will serve as the program's primary liaison with adidas baseball, coordinate all team travel and manage player relations. In addition, he will oversee student managers and the Diamond Dawgs' video operations.
“Lee's combination of work experiences brings so much to our baseball program,” Cohen said. “His passion for this school, work ethic and attention to detail leave no doubt in my mind he will help us in achieving our goals.”
VanHorn returns to Starkville after serving as the baseball information manager for the Albuquerque Isotopes, the Triple-A affiliate for the Colorado Rockies. While there, he acted as the organization's primary public relations contact, managing all internal and external publicity efforts.
Working under Isotopes owner Ken Young, the Winona, Mississippi, native also served as a PR advisor for the Biloxi Shuckers, helping develop a strategic communications plan for the unveiling of the team name and logo for the Milwaukee Brewers' new Double-A affiliate.
Prior to working with such MLB stars as Carl Crawford, Joc Pederson and Corey Dickerson, VanHorn functioned as MSU's primary media relations contact for volleyball (2013) as well as men's and women's golf (2010-13). VanHorn also served as a direct assistant to legendary baseball media relations contact Joe Dier in 2012-13, coordinating player requests on the 2013 NCAA College World Series finalist squad.
Outside of sports, VanHorn spent the summer of 2012 working in the United States Intelligence Community in Washington D.C.
