Meydrich Brings Home Win At Vanderbilt Invite

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Recording the third-best time in program history, Mississippi State track and field distance runner Mia Meydrich clocked a time of 9:36.30 in 3000m run to finish first at the Vanderbilt Invite Saturday.
“I feel like my performance was a good start to my season,” Meydrich said. “I knew going into it that I needed to run a solid time. I'm happy with the outcome and my first collegiate victory, but most importantly I'm happy that I can be training and competing with the team.”
Closing out the meet, the men's 4x400m relay team, comprised of Juston Waters, Charles Taylor, Alfred Larry and Rasheed Tatham, also brought home a first-place victory after running a facility record 3:09.21.In the women's 4x400m relay, Alon Lewis, Kimari Martin, Zaria Tillman and Leah Lott clocked a time of 3:51.05 to finish eighth.
Kristy Terp ran a personal-best 10:18.28 in the unseeded 3000m run to finish 10th.
With a personal-best in the 60m hurdles, sophomore Tiffany Flynn ran a time of 8.32 in the 60m hurdle finals to finish fifth overall and second collegiately.
Following Flynn in sixth place was senior Ste'yce McNeil with a time of 8.44. Lott barely missed qualifying for finals after running a time of 8.66 in the prelims to finish 11th.
On the men's side, Ro'Derick Spears finished fifth in the 60m hurdles finals after running a season-best time of 7.93.
Also making it to the finals, Lawrence Crawford finished fourth in the 60m dash recording a time of 6.76, while teammate Rodrigo Rocha ran 6.88 to place seventh. Falling just short of qualifying, Juston Waters finished in 16th after clocking a time of 6.95.
Bringing in a personal-best, freshman Vince Castillo ran 47.93 in the 400m dash to place sixth. In the same event, Dustin James II finished 11th after clocking a time of 48.69.
Representing MSU in the field, senior Sydney Rodkey cleared 11-05.25 in the pole vault to finish 14th.
Next up the Bulldogs will head to New York City to compete in the Armory Track Invitational Feb. 5-6.
